A little about me.

Hi and welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Elise, and I’ve been making pottery pieces for 6 years. Originally from Devon, I have always had a creative streak. I studied fashion photography at Falmouth University, before moving to London and turning my hand to retouching. After deciding that London wasn’t for me yet, I moved to Bristol and started freelancing. While living in Bristol, I took a pottery course and the rest is history. Covid and lockdowns meant I had to take a break from working on my new found love of pottery. But a move to Frome meant I had the time and space to start working on this again. I’m currently in Cornwall, feeling inspired by my surroundings and honing my skills. Thank you for visiting my shop, I hope you like my creations!

Inspiration.

I have drawn particular inspiration from traditional East Asian art forms and creative techniques, which were part of my formative years due to my Singapore-Chinese family. I also spent time living in Hong Kong due to my dad’s job, and being surrounded by such a rich culture sparked my interest further. This inspiration carried into my studies at university, where I had particular interest in Japanese structural fashion trends. I believe this influence of the traditional and the modern can be seen in my work, as I try to blend traditional techniques with a minimalist aesthetic.

Growing up in Devon has also influenced my work, with the landscape informing many of my early pieces, which had a more organic, earthy feel. However, I have started to draw inspiration from the landscape to build texture into my pieces. This is particularly evident in some of my latest work in which I have included sand from Icelandic beaches, collected from my travels.

I hope you enjoy browsing my collections, and following along as my work continues to evolve and grow.
